Volvo range gets a taste of race success with Polestar Performance Parts

Range of handling, breathing and styling accessories joins Polestar's existing Performance Optimisation options

Volvo’s V60 Polestar isn’t the perfect performance estate but it’s a good example of the transformative changes a little motorsport experience can have on an otherwise unassuming vehicle.

Owners of other Volvo models can now get a small sample of this with the newly-launched Polestar Performance Parts range, offering enhancements for the S60, V40, V60 and XC60 models.

The range is relatively comprehensive, from styling and interior trim components to chassis and engine improvements. Polestar and its motorsport partner, Cyan Racing, have developed the components, which can be purchased individually or as a complete package for each car.

Those opting for the complete package will have a substantially different car at the end of its transformation: Even the XC60 crossover comes with a stainless steel sports exhaust and induction system, new springs and dampers, 21-inch alloy wheels and a range of styling changes.

V40, S60 and V60 get a 19-inch alloy wheel option and similar spring, damper, induction and exhaust changes. The larger duo also get a carbonfibre strut tower bar, as found on the V60 Polestar. All get metal-faced pedals, door sills and a Polestar-branded gearknob.

Pricing hasn’t yet been revealed, though it’s worth noting that those seeking extra urge as well as styling and handling benefits can also equip their cars with Polestar’s existing Performance Optimisation packages, which boost performance and response. Warranty and official fuel and emission figures remain unchanged.

The Performance Parts packages will be available from April, with other models in the Volvo range getting their own Polestar packages at a later date. Just make sure you order your car in Rebel Blue...
