M-Sport Edition lends WRC kudos to Ford Fiesta ST

Mountune engine work, a Quaife diff and unique styling enhance Ford's great-value hot hatch

M-Sport, best known for developing the last few generations of Ford’s World Rally Championship entries, has launched a special edition based on Ford’s Fiesta ST.

The Fiesta M-Sport Edition is based around a Mountune MP215 power upgrade package, but adds several unique details that link it to the Fiesta RS WRCs driven by Ott Tänak and Elfyn Evans.

Externally, there’s a gloss black rear spoiler and a graphics package that references the official M-Sport World Rally Team livery. The ST’s standard wheels make way for a set of OZ Superturismo 7x17in multi-spoke alloy wheels painted matt graphite.

An optional handling pack also adds Bilstein struts with Eibach Pro springs, to further refine the ST’s already-excellent handling. Also optional is a brake upgrade, with Alcon calipers, 332mm discs and Goodrich braided hoses.

Inside, the blue theme of the graphics continues, with Nappa leather and Alcantara trim on the steering wheel, as well as a carbonfibre gearknob insert,  and an M-Sport logo on the rev counter. The Fiesta ST’s Recaro seats also get custom embroidered M-Sport logos.

Mountune’s MP215 package lifts the Fiesta’s standard 179bhp output to 212bhp at 6000rpm, and there’s 236lb ft of torque – up from 214lb ft. To that, M-Sport adds a cold air induction system with a Pipercross filter, and Fiesta RS WRC exhaust builder Chris Tullett Exhausts will also supply a custom-made rear silencer.

To harness the extra shove, M-Sport fits a Quaife ATB limited-slip differential – bringing the ST in line with diff-equipped hot hatchbacks like the Peugeot 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport and Vauxhall’s Corsa VXR.

While you can go straight to Mountune to buy the engine modifications and to other component suppliers for individual diffs and suspension components, you’re unlikely to match the value of buying the whole M-Sport Edition as it is: It’s priced at £21,600.
