BMW M4 (F82, 2014-2020) – design

The M4 stands out from the regular 4-series with a ‘powerdome’ bonnet, swollen wheelarches, deep air intakes and quad-tailpipes

Evo rating
  • Serious straight line performance; dry-weather handling
  • Can be tricky in the wet and on challenging roads

The M4 works hard to separate itself from standard 4-series models. The 'powerdome' bonnet is one area of distinction, while the front end features a bespoke set of air inlets for the twin-turbo straight-six. The wide-arch bodywork is another key giveaway, so too the two-pronged M door mirrors and quad tailpipes at the rear.

For those wanting to make even more of a statement with their M4, BMW offered a selection of bold colour choices such as Austin Yellow and Yas Marina blue from the factory. Specifying the optional ceramic brakes also bundled in a set of gold calipers.

The Competition Package doesn’t look much different beyond its GTS-inspired 20-inch alloys, while the CS gets a front splitter along with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged wheels, plus a carbon spoiler and diffuser.

You can’t miss the GTS. Its diamond turned orange wheels, extended front splitter, lowered (but adjustable) KW suspension and bolt-on rear wing give it all the presence of a genuine road racer.
