Porsche 911 Cabrio breaks cover

Porsche has revealed details and pricing of the new 911 cabriolet, set to go on sale next March

We’ve barely driven the new 911 coupe – and Porsche has already revealed the first images of the new cabriolet version. Mechanically identical to the Carrera, it will be going on sale next March and features a lightweight folding fabric roof to save weight.

As with the coupe, buyers will be able to choose between a 345bhp 3.4-litre engine and a 3.8-litre with 393bhp, and carrying ‘S’ badging. Only rear-wheel drive will be offered from launch, but it’s a sure bet that four-wheel driven versions will follow shortly afterwards. The 3.4 will cost £79,947 and the 3.8 will cost £89,740 – both before the inevitable options workout.

Porsche has opted to stick with a fabric hood in place of one of the more complex folding metal hard-tops, although a part-magnesium frame helps to reduce weight. British buyers will also get the chance to take part in a complementary driving course at Porsche’s ‘Experience Centre’ in Silverstone.
