Porsche at Frankfurt

Porsche's Frankfurt stand boasts the new 911 Turbo, GT3 RS, Sport Classic and Cup

Porsche has gone all out for its home turf motorshow.

There are no less than four world premieres, and they’re all 911s. Taking pride of place on the Stuttgart brand’s stand is the refreshed 911 GT3 RS, with a new direct injection 3.8-litre engine with 444bhp. More of a talking point is its newly gaudy graphics and wheels, with the Renault Megane R26.R at the back of a lot of people’s minds. Read more GT3 RS here.

Also big news is the fettled 997 Turbo, displayed in convertible format (pictured, dark red) with some rather nice alloys. It’s set to take on the Audi R8 V10 with 493bhp and a £101K price tag. Read more 997 Turbo here.

The 911 Sport Classic grabbed an awful lot of attention, too. Porsche has plundered its greatest hits collection and adorned a Carrera S with a ducktail spoiler, Fuchs-style alloys and some retro stripes, while simultaneously increasing the power and price to  a respectively impressive 403bhp and slightly shocking £140K. Read more Sport Classic here.

Completing the quartet of 911s is the GT3 Cup racer. Read about that here.

As well as these, the Porsche Panamera saloon got its big European unveil, with a number of versions on display and no shortage of people wanting to take snaps and make their mind up about the debate-inducing looks.
