Maserati Ghibli receives updated styling and new GranLusso name

Maserati Ghibli to receive a gently updated GranLusso variant to add a little extra luxury to the vulnerable executive saloon

Maserati’s attractive Ghibli mid-sized saloon will soon gain a new, subtly refreshed styling and tech upgrades as well as a new GranLusso moniker. To be revealed at the Chengdu motor show, the updated Ghibli is the executive saloons first update since its launch back in 2013.

Following its larger Quattroporte sibling in offering a more luxurious GranLusso variant, the new car differs from the previous Ghibli with a new front fascia featuring a reshaped grill and fresh matrix LED headlights (a first for Maserati) as well as a re-profiled rear bumper. The exterior changes are subtle, but Maserati say the upgrades improve aerodynamic efficiency compared to the standard car.

To try and keep up with its German rivals’ rapid march towards autonomous driving capability, Maserati has confirmed it has also upgraded its ADAS package (advanced driver assistance systems) to further support autonomous functionality, although Maserati has yet to go into detail about any specifics.

Maserati has not confirmed any mechanical changes, but we expect the GranLusso will offer the same turbocharged V6 petrol and diesel engines that are currently available on the standard car in the UK.
