If you’ve eaten yourself into a post-Christmas stupor, there’s no better excuse to remain on the sofa than reading issue 218 of evo – out now!

Subscribers will already have their issues, graced by the new Porsche 911 Carrera. It’s joined on our newsstand cover by a selection of new and used rivals – all things which might tempt you away from splashing £76,412 on the rear-drive sports car.

It’s our biggest feature this month, with some spectacular photos from the roads of North Wales. Dan Prosser evaluates the new car against its current rivals – the Jaguar F-type R, Nissan GT-R and BMW M4, while Henry Catchpole lines up an Aston Martin Vantage N430, BMW M6 and another turbocharged Porsche – a 997 Turbo.

Jethro Bovingdon has been in Qatar this month driving a car that proves not all Lamborghini Huracans understeer - the rear-wheel drive LP580-2. Gratuitous oversteer shots are never far away, but the car has merits far beyond the ability to go sideways.

Sideways? There’s plenty of that in our next feature, where Henry Catchpole is responsible for our first ever gravel group test. The new Ariel Nomad was the motivation, but it’s joined by a rally-prepared 911, Defender, off-road buggy and a full M-Sport prepared WRC Fiesta.

Jethro is back for the next feature, racing the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003C at the Nurburgring. Elsewhere in the issue, website editor Hunter Skipworth takes a trip to Italy to look around Abarth’s Classiche facility and speak to the boss, while Henry interviews Britain’s next Dakar star, Harry Hunt.

As ever, there’s a mix of news, first drives and our long-term Fast Fleet – including the new Porsche 911 Turbo, driving the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport and welcoming a Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary respectively. And our Market pages examine the Japanese car import scene.
