Renaultsport Twingo Cup

New hardcore, cheaper version of Twingo Cup, Renaultsport's titchiest hot hatch

Renault’s increasingly large hot hatch range has gained another member. It’s a nice affordable one, too – meet the Renaultsport Twingo 133 Cup.

While you can already spec a Twingo with the hardcore Cup chassis, you have to do so on top of a standard (and reasonably well equipped) 133. Now though, Renault’s using the same strategy as on the new Clio 200, producing a Twingo Cup entry level model that forgoes luxuries like air con and auto lights/wipers to save weight and cash.

As a result, you can get one for £11,795, making it one of the cheapest hot hatches on the market. And as we’ve found out, one of the most fun. Read our titchy hot hatch group test here.

Your small slice of money still secures some funky 17in anthracite alloys, though, which come wrapped in Continental Sport Contact3 tyres.  They are matched to the Cup chassis, which cuts ride height by 4mm over a regular Twingo 133 while providing 10 per cent stiffer springs and dampers.Follow evo on Twitter for the performance car latest
