New Bentley teaser

New teaser released as Bentley's Arnage saloon replacement nears unveil

Bentley’s all-new sports saloon is nearing its big unveil. The drip-feeding continues for now, though – the company’s second official picture (above) of its Arnage replacement manages to be just as unrevealing as the first.

It vaguely reveals the sculptured rear three quarters of the car, with a muscular shoulder line and wide rear pillars on show. As with the first picture, there are clear influences from the outgoing Arnage mated with more modern and dramatic curves.

The new car gets a new name, though (rumoured to be Grand Bentley), and is described as an all-new model that will celebrate Bentley’s 90th birthday. ‘The model is said to encapsulate the ‘1920s grand touring spirit of the Bentley Boys’ who dominated Le Mans in the late ‘20s.

Bentley’s new saloon has been developed entirely under parent company VW’s watch, and could gain four-wheel drive like its Continental GT stable mate. The initial engine range is set to consist only of the brand’s familiar 6.75-litre V8, but a hybrid powertrain or suitably big diesel could follow in future years as Bentley pledges to cut its emissions.

If you can’t wait to see the new ‘Grand Bentley’, then fear not – a full unveil is little over a month away, with Bentley a featured marque at California’s Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance. The new car will be centre of the company’s birthday celebrations there, and will be revealed on August 16. Keep checking evo.co.uk for the latest…
