Honda Civic review - decent looks but it's no Type-R - Design

Honda’s edgy looking Civic brings plenty of style, backed up by substance.

Evo rating
RRP
from £15,970
  • Head-turning looks, reliability, good diesel engine
  • Busy looking interior, limited rear headroom

Design

The Civic is a stand out looker in a relatively conservative class. Changes for 2015 brought new front and rear bumpers, a revised front grille, headlights incorporating daytime running lights, new front and rear fog lights, a revised side moulding and a piano black rear spoiler. To that the Sport model adds a lower mesh grille, 17-inch alloy wheels and colour coding on the rear spoiler. That Sport comes closest to aping the wild looks of the Type R, with a touch more restraint.

Certainly among its competition the Civic makes a bold statement, the Tourer too being extrovert in its design despite its added practicality. Honda has already revealed how this Civic’s replacement should look, and an all-new Civic is anticipated to be in UK showrooms by around 2017.
