Abt Audi RS6-R pumps super-estate to 730bhp

Germany-based Abt Sportsline has worked its magic on the C8 Audi RS6

If a fast but practical estate is on the agenda, you needn’t look any further than the 2020 RS6. Now in its fourth generation, it boasts enough performance to satisfy even the most seasoned performance car driver, but Abt Sportsline decided it needed a little more…

Under the bonnet is the same 4-litre, 48V mild-hybrid twin-turbocharged V8 you’ll find in many of VAG’s latest products. Stock numbers of 592bhp and 590lb ft of torque mean the standard car is certainly no slouch, but Abt has managed to find an extra 138bhp and 89lb ft of torque with its Power R ECU tune.

Thanks to new supercar-beating power figures of 730bhp and 679lb ft of torque, the 0-62mph time for the Ingolstadt estate is cut by four-tenths, bringing the sprint down to only 3.2sec. Top speed isn’t quoted. However, as is the case with many tuned cars of this kind, it will likely remain at the factory-limited 155mph.

Of course, modification doesn’t stop at the powertrain, with an array of carbonfibre trim added inside and out. A new carbon front lip, grille surround, diffuser, side skirts and front wing vents aim to increase aggression and aerodynamic performance.

Abt coilover suspension springs help sit the new 22-inch wheels into the arches, whilst sports anti-roll bars aim to improve performance; ‘aero’-style 22-inch wheels can also be had at a cost. Allowing the freshly fettled V8 to breathe is a new stainless steel exhaust system, finished off with a set of four carbon tips.

Inside, buyers receive a retrimmed steering wheel complete with leather and carbon, a custom ‘1 of 125’ sill plate, plenty of Abt Sportsline badging, and the option to add further carbon trim and new seat frame covers at an additional cost.

Pricing hasn’t been disclosed. However, as with its RS7-R sibling, only 125 units will be produced.
