Skoda Yeti review - more fun than you might expect - Skoda Yeti design

An unlikely evo car, this Skoda crossover is both capable and surprisingly fun

Evo rating
RRP
from £17,210
  • Entertaining drive, masses of space, rugged good looks
  • Four-wheel drive models relatively expensive to run, basic entry-level spec

Unashamedly functional, the Yeti is a pleasingly tough looker - even in its standard form. Adding the (no cost) Outdoor option only enhances that, giving it a more rugged look. It looks as tall as it is wide and long, so the Yeti is a boxy looker compared to its numerous rivals, but we don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. Monte Carlo models are attractive too, though we can't help feel the Yeti lost a little of its character when it swapped the old dual-headlamp setup (with large driving lights) for the corporate face and square headlamps.

Inside, it’s all similarly functional, the Yeti not pandering to fashion, being simple and clear to use, which is likely to appeal to its intended audience. That boxy shape makes for a large cabin, while Skoda’s clever seating and plentiful stowage only add to its appeal for family buyers. We can’t help but think how good a vRS model could be though; if Skoda built one we’d happily have it back on the Fast Fleet.
