Rolls-Royce reveals fashion-inspired Dawn

Fashion and luxury designers drafted in to add a dash of Haute Couture to the Dawn range

Fashion. Not a word one would traditionally associate with Rolls-Royce values, no more than the word “sporty” – and while the company does its best not to use that particular word it has described the Wraith as both “dynamic” and “athletic”, so it surely won’t be too long before the marketing department drops the S-bomb.

For the F-bomb, it’s already too late: you’re looking at the Rolls-Royce Dawn – Inspired by Fashion. The combined work of design director Giles Taylor and designers plucked from the world of fashion, fine textiles and luxury accessories, the team has conspired to create three Dawns based on three separate colour themes: Mugello Red, Cobalto Blue and Mandarin.

‘Subtle accents of these colours adorn interior aspects of each Dawn, whilst the ‘Silent Ballet’ of the roof as it rises to provide shelter from the paparazzo’s lens unleashes a brushstroke of colour to catch the style-spotter’s eye,’ says the press release. Indeed.

The execution will no doubt be wonderful, just as it is for the silk-lined door pockets which will surely be a nightmare to clean, the bespoke clock in the dashboard, or the Andalucian White paintwork. Along each flank is a precisely-painted coachline that echoes the colour of the folding roof, and the steering wheel, using seamless stitching, also reflects the red, blue or orange hues available.

‘Our clients are the very arbiters of fashion,’ explains Taylor, ‘“Dawn – Inspired by Fashion” beautifully expresses the notion that inspiration for truly personal objects is drawn from the passions, tastes and lifestyle of its patron.’

For those wishing to outrun fellow arbiters or telephoto-wielding paparazzi the Dawn – Inspired by Fashion retains the standard and less paparazzi-friendly Dawn’s 6592cc V12 with its adequate 563bhp output. No price is quoted, but Rolls-Royce says that customers will be able to order the models from November.
