Porsche 911 Targa 4 Detroit show pictures and video

Porsche has revealed the new retro-look 911 Targa 4 at the Detroit motor show. Details video and live show pictures here

Porsche has pulled the covers off the new 911 Targa at the Detroit motor show, displaying a new retro look for the model. As with the previous model, the Targa will be available exclusively in four-wheel drive form.

Two models will be available from launch, starting with the basic 345bhp 3.4-litre Targa 4, and the top of the range 395bhp 3.8-litre Targa 4S. Both models can be specced with either manual or PDK gearboxes, and when equipped with the Sports Chrono package, the Targa 4S will do the 0-62mph sprint in 4.4secs.

Returning to the model’s design roots, the rollover hoop gets a brushed aluminium finish, and just like the original there is a large convex rear window. The rear screen is made from lightweight laminated safety class.

Unlike the original 1960s model, the 991 Targa 4 gets an electronically retractable fabric-covered fabric hood, which folds away behind the rear seats. The process takes 19 seconds, with the rear glass screen tilting back to allow the fabric hood to slide down into position. Watch the video below to see how it works:
