Porsche GT3 Cup racer

The GT3 is the basis of the most popular one-make racer in history, the GT3 Cup. Over 1400 have been built, and the 2010 car marks the biggest set of upgrades seen since the 997 model was introduced in 2005.

The bodyshell is now taken from the RS model (until now it was the narrower base-model GT3) so it’s wider than before and covers wider front and rear rims. The aero package is radically different, with a vast ‘Cup S’ rear wing and a much more effective front splitter. The suspension is now fully rose-jointed and the anti-roll bars are seven-way adjustable items from the 2009 RSR.

The LSD is now a little more open on power and overrun. This, combined with new spring and damper settings, makes the car easier to drive than before, but it remains a very challenging car to drive fast. The motor, rated at 444bhp, is identical to the road RS’s, and makes this a very fast, very desirable racing car.
