Michael Fux commissions unique McLaren 720S for Pebble Beach

Painted in ‘Fux Fuschia’, the car displays the lengths MSO can go in the name of customer personalisation

Visitors to this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will struggle to miss the vehicle McLaren’s bringing along. Created by bespoke division McLaren Special Operations, the car has been commissioned by US-based enthusiast Michael Fux, and is a 720S with some very brave design choices.

First, the pink elephant in the room – the colour. McLaren calls it "Fux Fuschia", continuing Fux’s tradition of painting his cars in truly unique shades, but there’s no getting away from the fact that it’s shocking pink. It’s a testament to the 720S’s bold design that it can almost pull off such an eye-catching hue. Almost.

The colour was created for Fux by Rolls-Royce, and he maintains the exclusive rights to use it, so don’t go expecting to see it on McLaren’s configurator any time soon.

Elsewhere, Fux’s 720S features pink detailing on the platinum-finish alloys, as well as contrasting detailing inside.

The remainder of the body detailing is in Stealth Grey – on the exhaust and window surrounds, while carbon fibre components also feature.

The bulk of the interior is finished in MSO Bespoke white leather, with white stitching, and white Alcantara floor mats to finish off. Pink detailing appears on the door cars, steering wheel and rear-view mirror.

'Challenging the art of the possible to meet the most demanding customer requirements and then delivering beyond expectation are integral to the service that McLaren Special Operations offers,' commented Jolyon Nash, Sales and Marketing Executive Director at McLaren Automotive.

'MSO provides McLaren owners virtually limitless possibilities to tailor a car exactly to their needs and all tastes; unique paint colours and finishes, custom leather and stitching and exotic materials are all available within a bespoke commission, while beyond this there are opportunities all the way up to complete vehicles designed to individual specificiation.'

Michael Fux’s new 720S will be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this Sunday, on the Concept Lawn.
