Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Blackline specification introduced

Bentley’s ultra-lux Mulliner specification is now available sans chrome

To the very few who look at a Bentley Continental GT and think its ambiance a little basic, the Mulliner specification has been a discernible upgrade, combining extra layers of sumptuousness to the interior, as well as a bolder and brighter look to the externals. But as customer tastes change, so too has the desire to adopt a more stealthy look even in this upper Mulliner spec, of which Bentley will now facilitate with the introduction of the new Mulliner Blackline specification.

Key elements of the Mulliner Blackline specification are shared with the usual version, which includes a bespoke grille design, new 22-inch wheels and alterations to other subtle elements of brightwork. The difference is all of these components are now either finished in total black, or a near-black finish, other than the inner diamonds of the grille mesh, which remain bright for contrast.

Alongside the Mulliner-specific Blackline components, the window trims, lower accent trims, exhaust pipe finishers and lighting surrounds also pick up a darkened finish. Inside, the options are far more personal, with the Mulliner leather finishers and colour split able to be specified in Bentley’s vast array of colour options.

As with the standard Mulliner specification, Mulliner Blackline models are specific to the V8 powertrain in the UK, paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. Coupe or Convertible options are available, and we suspect the same Mulliner Blackline specification will soon be found on the Flying Spur saloon, which generally mimics the Continental GT’s variations soon after.

Prices haven’t been specified, but expect the near £50,000 premium of the Mulliner specification cars to be consistent with the new Blackline, making the V8 model somewhere around £200,000.
