Audi S3 saloon review – the saloon body only enhances the appeal - MPG and running costs

MPG and running costsIn keeping with the S3 range, the saloon gains frugality along with performance. The faster S-Tronic delivers 40.9mpg with 159g/km. With a manual gearbox the S3 saloon trails only slightly behind at 40.4mpg and carbon dioxide emissions of 162g/km.

Mixed driving with occasional full throttle blasts will see fill ups every 300 miles or so putting economy in the low 30s but 40mpg is easily achievable on a gentle motorway cruise. Insurance won’t be too stiff for typical S3 buyers but a group 36E means premiums will be slightly higher than those for a Golf R
