Aston Martin Lagonda: Gallery and details

Aston Martin reveals details and images of its Middle East-bound Lagonda luxury saloon

For the first time since 1990, the Lagonda badge will sit on an Aston Martin, as the British carmaker confirms production of a new super saloon sold exclusively to the Middle East market. The firm has now revealed official images of the car.

Aston Martin claims its new luxury saloon will revive the ethos of the original Lagonda, with the incredibly wealthy customers of the Middle East demanding the very ‘finest of fast cars’. Based on Aston Martin’s VH architecture, the luxury super saloon holds clear design links with its predecessor - the Williams Towns designed ‘76 car - inheriting sharp, sleek lines and a four-door layout.

Aston Martin Design Director, Marek Reichman, tells evo that while the new car has taken its 'spiritual roots' from the original Towns-designed Lagonda, 'it's in no way a retrospective piece of design'. He likens the car to a 'Concorde amidst airliners' in the luxury saloon class.

Construction of the luxury car and its carbonfibre bodywork will take place in the same specialist Gaydon location where the super-rare One-77 hypercar was once built. The Lagonda comes at a time when Aston Martin has been busy creating other exclusive products such as the One-77, V12 Zagato and CC100 Speedster Concept.

Reichman says that ‘the new model has been created as a piece of exceptional automotive art. It has been designed and developed entirely in keeping with the spirit and ethos of previous Lagonda super saloons.’

Deliveries are pencilled in for the first quarter of 2015. Ensuring the car remains as exclusive as its Middle Eastern customers demand, buyers can only purchase the Lagonda through invitation. Pricing details will therefore remain exclusive, but we have little doubt it will amount to ‘a lot.’
