Volkswagen Golf R-Line packages announced

Volkswagen has announced the availability of R-line trims for the facelifted seventh-generation Golf

If you're after some of the sporty trinketry of the Volkswagen Golf R but aren’t too fussed about the performance, VW has a solution on the way. The recently facelifted Mk7 Golf can now be specified with a variety of R-Line packages with exterior and interior modifications making up the changes.

The R-Line exterior package brings a brand new front bumper design consisting of a high-gloss black painted air intake with a honeycomb style pattern. The rear too gets the R wand waved over it seeing a diffuser attached to the underside of the bumper. A unique spoiler will round off the purposeful look of the R-Line exterior. Just in case anyone were to mistake it for a regular Golf, somehow overlooking the aggressive bodykit, the obligatory peppering of R-Line badges should minimise any doubt.

The R-Line packages have only just been announced with official European pricing. The exterior R-Line additions cost from €1105, roughly £950 at current exchange rates. When the packages become available in the UK the costs may be subject to change but we would expect adjustments to be negligible.

Opt for the full complement of R-Line parts brings interior enhancements too. R-Line sports seats are upholstered in a "Carbon Flag/San Remo" combination design, or in optional leather. A leather trimmed multifunction steering wheel with contrast stitching is offset by "Dark Diamond Flag" inlays. Stainless steel pedals and door sill panels will complete the sharper sportier appearance of the R-Line trim. The full R-Line package also includes the choice of 17- or 18-inch alloys in a variety of styles.

All-in, the R-Line package will set buyers back at least €1,800, or about £1,550, depending on the finer details of their chosen specification within the R-Line trim. UK pricing is expected to be confirmed in due course.
