As soon as the new Swift Sport accessories brochure was published I started rifling through it like a tartrazine-crazed child pre-Christmas. First up on my I-want-I-want-I-want list: an iPod adaptor, so that I could carry around a library of eleventy squillion tunes in one small box rather than listening to the same three CDs that I can never remember to take out of the car.

Since the Swift belongs to Suzuki, they kindly agreed to do the work at the main workshop in Milton Keynes, which took less than an hour. I wanted them to plumb-in a Bluetooth phone connection at the same time but they hadn’t got the gubbins in stock, so that will be installed when the Sport goes back to be fitted with the third and most expensive extra: a subtle body kit that comprises black arches and sills to give the little car a smidge more visual beef. It’s scheduled to be glued on – no really, they glue it on – in a couple of weeks’ time.
