2020 Renault Mégane RS spied testing ahead of reveal

Mégane RS spotted high-altitude testing in Spain with a fresh new look

The standard Renault Mégane is due a refresh imminently, and so, of course, a facelifted version of the hot RS variant will follow shortly behind. Our spy photographers have spotted the next RS performing high-altitude tests in Spain while wearing very little in the way of camouflage.

No vast changes in design can be seen from the images, with only the front and rear light clusters differing from the current car’s. The front units still feature the same sweeping design as before, only with refined optics. At the rear, however, the light units receive quite a considerable update, with much crisper, more diffused optics than on the current car. Though we’re yet to get a peek inside, the interior will likely take inspiration from the new Clio, with the addition of a new, larger infotainment display.

As for power, the model’s turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder unit in standard form will produce 276bhp and 288lb ft of torque, the same as previously, with 0-62mph still taking 5.7sec and top speed still limited to 155mph. Expect prices for the facelifted car to start from around £28,000, plus around £1500 and £2000 for the Cup chassis and dual-clutch gearbox options respectively.

There’s no word yet on when the model will make its debut. However, rumours point towards the refreshed standard car making an appearance at the Frankfurt motor show in just a few days’ time.
