Skoda Fabia: Rally Fabia hints at next vRS

Rally-spec S2000 gives pointers to 2008 Fabia vRS

Ostensibly, all that Skoda revealed at Geneva was its latest Fabia hatchback. So far, so ordinary. But on the other side of the stand was this S2000 concept, showcasing the work that Skoda is putting into preparing a Super 2000-spec rally car.

Interestingly, the last time Skoda showed a rally version of the Fabia, it accurately previewed the road-going vRS model that turned up the following year. So putting two and two together...

It also looks increasingly likely that a petrol option could find its way into the next hot Fabia, saving it from an exclusively oil-burning future. VW's 138bhp turbocharged and supercharged 1.4-litre TSI unit is the most likely candidate. The vRS will doubtless also offer the cosmetic options available on the rest of the new Fabia range - like a Mini-style white roof - and the possibility of decorating it with an enlarged photo image of your choice...
