Skoda Citigo speedster concept

The Skoda Citijet is a Citigo speedster concept and will debut at the Worthersee VW fan meet

Skoda will be bringing an open top sports concept of its Citigo hatchback to Austria’s Worthersee Volkswagen Fan Meet.

The Citijet, designed by 16 Skoda apprentices over the course of six months, is a sports city car that expresses the Czech carmaker’s sporting credentials. A production version is unlikely.

Supported by Head Designer Jozef Kabaň and his team, the apprentices’ concept flaunts a dual-colour blue and white paintjob, with contrasting 16in wheels and steeply raked passenger windows. A permanent open top reveals sharply angled rollover hoops, ahead of a handmade rear spoiler and two chrome tipped exhausts.

Inside, the two-seat CitiJet features an interior based on the Citigo Sport model. This brings a sporty three-spoke leather-lined steering wheel with red-stitching, leather lined gear-knob and handbrake, and seats garnished in a sports design. The dash is painted red and white, while music-reactive LED lighting adds a sense of theatre when the 300-watt sound system is in use.

Whilst the car might not be the most innovative concept to come to Worthersee, it has been a great opportunity for the young apprentices to demonstrate their design talents.

Head of Skoda Auto Design, Jozef Kabaň, said “our apprentices have put their hearts and souls into this vehicle. Every little detail, no matter how small, was discussed, agreed upon and put into practice by the team. It was a real team effort.”
