Renault Wind Gordini revealed

Renault reveals the latest addition to its sporty Gordini range, the Renaultsport tuned Wind roadster

Renault has unveiled the latest addition to its hot Gordini range. The Wind roadster has been given the blue’n’white treatment, and will get its public debut at next month’s Geneva motor show. While engine details have not yet been confirmed, we’d expect the Wind Gordini to debut with the drop-top’s more potent 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine. Shared with the Renaultsport Twingo 133, it boasts 131bhp and 118lb ft of torque, enough to give the Wind a breezy 9.2sec 0-62mph-time and a 125mph top speed. More importantly, the underpinnings can boast Renaultsport development, so it’s the best handling of the small coupe-convertible class. The Wind can wear a pair of white sports stripes with little irony. As with its Clio and Twingo siblings, the Wind Gordini’s changes over standard are purely cosmetic – Malta blue paintwork with white stripes is the most eye-catching tweak, while there’s a set of 17in alloy wheels with an echoing colour scheme. Inside, there’s black and blue leather and a smart Gordini steering wheel and gearknob. While firm details have yet to be confirmed, expect the Wind Gordini on sale in time for our brief summer, priced from around £17,500. Read our Renaultsport Clio Gordini review Read our Renaultsport Twingo Gordini review
