Porsche Panamera V6 revealed

Porsche unveils the 296bhp V6 engined Panamera supersaloon. 30mpg, sub 225g/km

The Porsche Panamera has gained a V6 engine. The direct injection 3.6-litre unit becomes the entry-level Panamera powerplant, though its 296bhp and 296lb ft aren’t lacking. The engine weighs 30kg less than Porsche’s V8, the Panamera V6 weighing in at 1730kg overall, resulting in a 174bhp/ton power to weight ratio. The Panamera Turbo’s is 254bhp/ton. As you’d expect with its smaller-engined saloon, Porsche’s big noise is about the V6’s cleanliness: equipped with the PDK twin-clutch gearbox and start-stop technology, it’ll top 30mpg while emitting 218g/k of CO2. Optional 19in ‘all-year tyres’ with optimised roll resistance cut the CO2 figure by a further 5g/km. You’ll have the option of rear- or four-wheel drive, costing £61,461 and £66,929 respectively. The Panamera 4 V6 gets PDK as standard, while both come with a complimentary Porsche driver experience day at the company’s Silverstone facility. UK sales begin in June. See how the Panamera battles the Aston Martin Rapide in Issue 141 of evo, on sale now.
