Porsche Macan gets refresh with new tech and GTS-inspired trim

2016 model offers more functionality and comfort with latest upgrades

Porsche has refreshed its Macan range with updated technology, additional luxury features and new interior and exterior styling packages.

Heading the list of updates is Porsche’s latest PCM infotainment. The entire Macan range will now be available with the system, first previewed on the new 911 Carrera and claimed to improve smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay, as well as offering a wider range of internet based services including wi-fi hotspot and real-time navigation. The system is housed in a seven-inch touchscreen located in the centre of the dashboard.

Also new to the Macan options list are full-LED headlights, which drastically increase visibility at night, and Porsche also says steering responses have been sharpened across the range as it’s fine-tuned the Macan’s electric steering.

For the Macan Turbo, new interior and exterior styling packages – inspired by the recently unveiled GTS – are now available. Opting for the exterior package adds new bi-colour 21-inch alloy wheels (inspired by the new 911’s wheels), complete with Porsche coloured centre badges, new, more streamlined door mirrors and a raft of high-gloss black trim – intakes, side strips, window trim and underbody protection is painted this colour. The look is finished with smoked rear lights and black tailpipes.

The interior package wraps the Turbo’s seat centres, armrests, centre console and doorcards in Alcantara. This is contrasted by a choice of Rhodium Silver or Garnet Red stitching.

Porsche has also added new colours to the refreshed Macan range, which goes on sale at the start of 2016. Order books are already open in Germany, with prices starting from 61,143 euros (about £43,891). UK pricing is yet to be confirmed.

The Porsche Macan made headlines last week when it was announced that Porsche would be recalling 58,881 Macan S and Macan Turbo models due to low-pressure fuel line issues.
