Porsche Cayenne

We spot the all-new, slimmer Porsche Cayenne SUV out testing

Porsche is persevering with the Cayenne, as these spy shots of the all-new version prove.

The company’s first SUV has come in for criticism from a lot of people, yet is a huge seller for Porsche and looks set to become an established part of its model range. This new model should be in for a warmer reception, though, with a rumoured 200kg weight loss and a smaller, lither bodyshell.

As a result, performance, dynamics and efficiency should all notably improve.

Power will come from a bunch of petrols and a diesel engine, with the Porsche Panamera’s 4.8-litre V8s in 394bhp S and 493bhp Turbo form and another Audi-sourced TDI likely. There could well be a hybrid, too, a first for Porsche. The latter, along with lowered kerb weights, should improve emissions and fuel economy to make the Cayenne a smaller target for environmental criticism.

The Mk2 Porsche Cayenne is likely to get its full unveil at the 2010 Geneva motor show, with sales beginning later in the year.
