Porsche Boxster Speedster

Spy shots of the unique Speedster version of the current Porsche Boxster

While Porsche readies an all-new Boxster, it is also planning a grand send off for the current car (which was updated recently). These spy shots show the Boxster Speedster, a diversion for the Porsche roadster’s range and a car which echoes the old 911 Speedster.

The big changes are a lower windscreen, modified canvas roof and twin humps that run from the headrests to the rear of the car. It should ensure better aerodynamics and also really set the Speedster apart from other Boxsters in the looks department.

It will use the 299bhp 3.4-litre flat-six engine from the Boxster RS60 and Boxster S Design Edition 2, a limited-run model that didn’t make it to the UK. It gains the exhaust tweaks that featured on the RS60, ensuring the Speedster should sound pretty good too. Expect to see it at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
