New supercars from Arash and Noble

Arash AF10 and Noble M600 in final stages of development

His first project, the Farboud, may have been over-ambitious – it has been redeveloped as the less exotic and more sensibly priced Farbio by Chris Marsh and is on the brink of success – but Arash Farboud reckons he’s on target with his second car, the AF10.

There are certain similarities to a rather well-known Italian supercar, but although the AF10 features a carbonfibre body and tub, its chassis and crash structures are steel. Nevertheless, the car has a kerb weight not far north of 1250kg and is powered by a mid-mounted 550bhp GM 7‑litre LS7 V8, giving a projected top speed of over 200mph.

Arash Farboud says he already has five firm orders for his £172,000 supercar. Deliveries are expected to begin late in the year.

Meanwhile the long-awaited Noble M600 has been spotted testing in Arizona recently. The company is owned by American Peter Dyson, but MD Peter Boutwood told us there are no plans to sell the 600bhp-plus supercar in the States. ‘The car has been both hot- and cold-weather testing in America, but it is a car for the UK market,’ he said.

Boutwood remained tight-lipped on other aspects of the twin-turbo V8-engined car, which is completing its development without the input of Lee Noble, the company’s founder. There is still no word on pricing, either, but over 80 per cent of those who placed deposits almost three years ago are content to wait, reckoned Boutwood, adding, ‘Their patience will be rewarded.’

Production of the carbonfibre-bodied M600 will be limited to just one car a week. The first examples are due to emerge early this year.
