2022 Nissan GT-R model year update revealed

Two new special editions and the return of some iconic colours are the highlights of the Nissan GT-R’s MY22 update

Nissan has released details of its 2022 updates for the JDM GT-R, with two exclusive new special editions released alongside other small updates across the range. These changes are limited to the Japanese domestic market, it remains to be seen whether Nissan will apply these to international markets including the UK.

A highlight of the update are the two T-spec limited editions that both feature bespoke elements. The GT-R Premium T-spec is the first, and builds on Japanese Premium specification models with forged Rays alloy wheels in a bronze finish, a bespoke interior colour and trim combo and a road-focused suspension tune taking into account the lower weight of the forged wheels.

The GT-R Track Edition engineered by Nismo T-spec (exhale), as the name suggests, takes things in the other direction with a carbonfibre roof, bootlid and chassis setup closer to that of the Nismo GT-R we’re so fond of. Both T-spec cars also include a carbonfibre rear wing, carbon ceramic brakes and bespoke badging, and are limited to 100 units for each.

These models join other small changes to the standard MY22 GT-R, including the application of two historic colour choices familiar to any Skyline enthusiast. The iconic Midnight Purple, and later Millenium Jade colour ways will both return for the ‘22 model year, joining the current colour palette.

Nissan UK has not confirmed if or when it plans to bring any of these changes across to local models, but given the extremely low volumes in the UK and Europe it remains unlikely that either of the T-spec specials will find their way here.
