Nissan 370Z

Very touchy-feely and great value for money, Nissan's 370Z attracts a crowd wherever it's parked

Red cars are faster. It’s one of the unwritten rules of the universe. Until now, obviously. Anyway, the 370Z looks stunning in Vibrant Red. It’s a colour that just seems to suit the confidence that the wide arches and short wheelbase exude. The small spoiler that the UK cars have on their rump makes all the difference to the looks too, and I love the fact that the shape of the side windows has a hint of GT-R. Everywhere I park it there always seems to be someone who thinks it’s a new exotic, the names Ferrari and Porsche even being mentioned by well-meaning elderly neighbours. Bless ’em.

Sitting inside, you have a wonderfully commanding view over the broad, bulging bonnet. The tactile Alcantara swatches on the doors add an exclusive feel every time you grab the handle to shut yourself in. It’s a shame the buttons for the heated seats are lifted straight from the Navara, but the big dial for the sat-nav has a lovely feel when you turn it, clicking a bit like the bezel on one of Harry’s ludicrous watches. What I’m trying to say is that, when you tell someone that the 370Z costs £32K it feels like a bit of a bargain. Especially when you compare it with our £44K Z4…
