Details have leaked out about BMW's plans for more powerful versions of the 3-series. To fill the gap before the V8-powered M3 arrives in 2007, two high-power 3-litre engines are going to enliven the top of the range. The 335d will use the same twin-turbo 3-litre diesel already seen in the 535d, with 270bhp and performance that's certain to be limited to 155mph - together with achievable 40mpg-plus economy.
