British Touring Cars preview: Andrew Jordan

evo catches up with five likely British Touring Car title contenders. Today it's independent Honda Civic driver Andrew Jordan

Ahead of the start of the British Touring Cars season this weekend, evo got the thoughts of reigning Independents champion Andrew Jordan, who topped the official pre-season test at Donington Park last week: How would you describe your last 12 months?“Very good and very successful. It was great to win the Independents championship, but we also made some improvements that needed to be made, so it was a bit of a learning year for us as well.” What’s the biggest strength of your privateer Civic compared to the factory version, and compared to the other cars in the field?“As a base the Honda is a very well-handling car. The boost rule changes will make things a bit fairer this year, but we’ve made some changes to my car to try and make it suit my driving style a bit better. Matt Neal, for example, is quite a smooth driver, whereas I’m quite aggressive, so we always try to make a few minor adjustments. I suppose that’s because of my background in rallycross!” Which other driver in the field do you respect the most, and why?“I respect Matt Neal a lot because he’s done it all and he’s very professional in his approach. I’ve also got a lot of respect for Jason Plato because he’s fantastic as a businessman and finding sponsorship and doing all the other things that come with being a professional driver.” Who do you think will win this year’s championship, and why?“Me, because I’ll be the best!”
