2012 Goodwood Revival in pictures: the racers

The 2012 produced some brilliantly close historic racing as, once again, an amazing collection of some of the greatest competition cars was brought together

The Goodwood Revival is far more than just a fancy dress party. Although more than 80 percent of the visitors to the event now choose to come in 'period' costume, it's the racing that lies at the centre of the event, with a card filled with everything from pre-war sportscars to some of the quickest sports prototypes of the mid 1960s.

Themes at this year's Revival included a tribute to the AC/ Shelby Cobra (and a celebration of the life of Carroll Shelby himself), with the Shelby Cup featuring an all-Cobra grid and some specacularly racing. We also got a parade of Ferrari 250s reckoned to be worth more than £300m. Here's our postcard of some of the highlights from the paddock this year.
