Puritalia 427 inspired by Cobra

A new Italian sports car known as the Puritalia 427, inspired by the legendary Shelby Cobra, has been unveiled.

Recently-founded Italian sports car producer, Puritalia, has produced a super-lightweight rear wheel drive sportscar, fitted with a 5.0-litre 600bhp supercharged V8 - citing the legendary Shelby Cobra as its inspiration.

Unlike Cobra creator Carroll Shelby, Puritalia’s founder Paolo Parente has built his own car entirely from scratch. Parente claims that the 427 is unique, and the 'simplistic' way it’s built along with the use of high-quality materials will 'elevate the drivers experience'.

The body is made from carbon fibre, and the chassis is a semi-monocoque aluminium spaceframe – with the whole lot weighing in at just 1089kg. Two engine options will be offered, a 440bhp normally-aspirated V8, or 600bhp supercharged version of the same engine – both mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
