Dunlop art car competition

Design a Dunlop sponsored Ferrari 458 Italia and it could race at the 2012 Le Mans 24-hour race

Dunlop art car competition

Over the past three years, tyre manufacturer Dunlop has invited design students and racing fans to give a unique look to the car it sponsors at the Le Mans 24 Hours. It’s once again calling for entries to design the livery for 2012’s Ferrari 458 Italia. This year there is a big difference, with the entrants having a much freer canvas for designing the JMW Motorsport entered car. Dunlop is broadening the competition this year, inviting entries from racing fans and art design students alike, with a wider selection of design finalists the aim. This is far from the first time art cars have featured at Le Mans, the first being designed by Alexander Calder in 1975, and since then several artists’ work (usually adorning BMWs) have featured at the iconic race, including David Hockney and Andy Warhol. The competition is open to anyone over the age of 16, and the deadline for entries is May 10 2012.
