Mugen CR-Z revealed

Want your CR-Z to have more show? Mugen, Honda's tame tuning firm, has released a tuning pack for the hybrid

Honda’s sporty yet green CR-Z has had its performance credentials enhanced with a visual makeover by in-house tuners Mugen.

The CR-Z Mugen follows the Civic Mugen 200 by offering buyers a comprehensive catalogue of accessories, enabling them to give their CR-Z more show, if not more go. At present, the upgrades are purely aesthetic, with no power upgrade to the car’s petrol or electric motors.

The selection of accessories includes a deeper front splitter and revised grille - the latter incorporating daytime running lights – side skirts which give the car a squatter stance, a rear diffuser, and to top it off, a large roof-mounted spoiler. Other optional additions include a selection of new alloy wheels and the obligatory carbon fibre – in the form of a number plate holder.

Inside, customers can spec various Mugen branded components including dials, gear knobs and carbon fibre rear-view mirror.

The only performance options available to buyers are a sports exhaust and air filter, uprated racing-spec brake pads and stiffer suspension.  Significant dynamic increases will only come as and when Honda confirms the existence of the rumoured CR-Z Type R.
