Gumpert Apollo Speed

It's not just the big boys unveiling major new models at the Geneva motor show. Gumpert will be there in force, showing off its new Apollo Speed.

It's a tougher version of the already hardcore Gumpert Apollo, with more dramatic and muscular styling, lower ride height and a number of dynamic modifications. While there's only one (rather teasing) picture so far, it's possible to spot some of the changes - bigger wheelarches, a new front splitter and revised air intakes as well as two-tone paint. At the back there's an adjustable spoiler and new taillights.

Also adjustable are the car's dampers, allowing the driver to tweak the suspension to their liking. The underbody is fully enclosed while the wheel caps are fixed at the front and rotating at the rear, echoing F1 cars. The ventilated disc brakes (378mm) get six-piston calipers while there's a Torsen diff, too.

Engine-wise, options appear to mirror those of the Apollo we've previously driven. The 4.2-litre V8 comes in 641, 690 and 789bhp flavours with torque figures at 627, 645 and 664lb ft respectively. The middle of the range 690bhp option shoves the 1200kg Gumpert to 62mph in 3sec dead and 124mph in 8.9sec, before topping out at 224mph.
