Carlsson CK63 S

German tuner gives Mercedes C63 AMG a useful performance boost

Is a Mercedes C63 AMG not enough for you? Does the Brabus Bullit give you the jitters? Step forward the Carlsson CK63 S, your perfect fiery C-class. It packs 557bhp - a 24 per cent hike over a standard C63 - and 505lb ft of torque. That's 63lb ft more than the £51,425 AMG but some way short of the £300k, 811lb ft Brabus.

The Carlsson hits 62mph in 3.8sec and while it still carries a speed limiter, it cuts in at a generous 186mph. The extra performance is gained from a variety of tweaks, chiefly a sports air filter and rear muffler – the latter adding some of those all-important extra bhps as well as creating an 'enormous sound'. Taking all that extra shove into account, Carlsson recommends fitting its torque-sensitive limited slip diff as well, although this doesn’t come as standard kit.

Outside changes to the car are fairly subtle, with modestly muscular bumpers and a discreet rear spoiler. The alloys are a more key change, giving the car a different look and weighing almost half that of the standard C63's wheels. No word on official pricing, but Carlsson's existing tweaked C63s command around £100k over in Germany.
