Honda hints about Type-R diesel and CRX return and Mazda bangs the Wankel gong again

Honda was hinting at Tokyo that it’s looking at a diesel version of the Honda Civic Type-R. The only stumbling block was whether it could develop a sufficiently high-revving diesel engine, as this characteristic is considered a fundamental requirement of all Type-R cars.

MAZDA propably scooped the wackiest concept car award with its Taiki (above). It was meant to hint at a new Wankel-engined sports coupe due for launch in 2010.

GRACING the Ferrari stand in Tokyo was a white 612 Scalietti – not a hue you see every day on a Ferrari.

HONDA hinted at a potential born-again CRX coupe with the CR-Z concept . Honda insiders indicated they were particularly pleased with the way this concept had turned out, and reckoned the grille treatment on this car could indicate the new face of Honda in the future.
