BTCC: BTCC support act set to rock

Support series to BTCC, the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup, will feature lightly-modified production cars, one of which will be driven by evo

For 2007 there’s a new race series supporting the BTCC: the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup.

Designed to accommodate a wide range of only lightly modified production-based cars, it is supported by Triple Eight Performance Vehicles, Sunoco Race Fuels and evo. We will even be entering our own car, to be driven by magazine regulars, though we can’t yet reveal what it will be.

There are five classes, defined by power-to-weight ratio, and the series caters for everything from hot hatches to big saloons via mid-sized coupes. So far the entry list includes cars as diverse as a Citroën C2, Smart Roadster, Astra VXR, Mazda RX-8 and BMW M5. All will run on Dunlop Sport Maxx road tyres.

The series will join the BTCC at six of the Great & British Motorsport Festival meetings, with two races at each, starting at Snetterton on April 28/29.

We’ll keep you posted on developments both of the series and the evo racer.
