SEAT's WTCC success

SEAT claims a pair of 1-2-3-4 finishes as WTCC kicks off in Curitiba

SEAT has got off to a cracking start in the World Touring Car Championship with its four Leon TDIs taking the top four positions in the opening rounds.

The pair of 1-2-3-4 finishes came at Curitiba in Brazil, with Yvan Muller, Jordi Gene, Rickard Rydell and Gabriele Tarquini all picking up a generous helping of points to lead the Drivers’ Championship. Muller – reigning WTCC champ – won the first race while Tarquini took the honours in race two. The pair sit atop the Drivers’ standings with 15 points apiece. Needless to say, SEAT is sitting pretty in the Manufacturers’ Championship with 36 points, 14 ahead of nearest rival BMW.

SEAT and Muller wiped the floor in the WTCC in 2008 and are on good course to do the same this year, too. It comes after the Spaniards chose to quit the British Touring Car Championship at the end of last season.
