Ford pays tribute to Le Mans winner with GT ’67 Heritage Edition

Track-biased supercar can now be had in a unique red-and-white stripe livery, honouring the 1967 No.1 Le Mans winner

In 1967, one year after Ford’s iconic 1-2-3 Le Mans win, the dream team of Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt romped home to victory in another GT40 – and now, customers can mark that occasion with a new special edition GT, the ’67 Heritage Edition. Paying tribute to the 1967 race win, it’s going on show at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, resplendent in a unique racing livery.

Donning Race Red paint paired with white racing stripes running the length of the car, the doors and bonnet feature large No.1 decals just like the ’67 race winner. It’s not just a paint scheme though, as the ’67 Heritage Edition also features 20-inch forged aluminium wheels, red brake calipers, silver mirror caps and an exposed carbon package.

Inside, the Heritage Edition features more red detailing – including stitching on the leather seats and steering wheel, as well as red seatbelts. Meanwhile, satin dark stainless steel panels are used on the instrument binnacle and X-brace.

Lucky owners will also get a uniquely numbered identification plate.

“The first Heritage edition car [the ’66 Heritage Edition] was a huge success, honoring our history with a modern interpretation of the Le Mans winner,” said Garen Nicoghosian, exterior design manager for the car. “Continuing with a 2018 Ford GT based on the winning GT40 Mark IV race car was simply something we needed to do.”

Potential customers can view the car online. But if you want to order, hurry up, as it’s a limited-run special for the 2018 model year only.
