Mountune M400 pack to give Ford Focus RS 394bhp

M400 pack to push Focus RS power outputs to the limits of the standard engine's capability

Ford tuning company Mountune has announced its most powerful upgrade pack yet for the Ford Focus RS. Already no slouch with 345bhp as standard, the Focus RS with the new M400 pack gains outputs of 394bhp and 416lb ft of torque.

Consisting of a re-designed high-flow induction system, larger intercooler, 3-inch downpipe and a new cat-back exhaust among other smaller components, the package is said to raise the power output of the Focus RS as much as is possible without compromising the engine’s longevity.

The result is a reduction in charge temperature and removal of back pressure in the exhaust, helping the 2.3-litre four cylinder run more efficiently at high loads

This new hardware is then optimised by Mountune’s software developments with a specific Mountune M400 calibration of the standard Ford ECU and mTune handset. The handset gives drivers the ability to finely tune the digital set-up of the car, as well as act as a performance data-logging device.

The M400 kit’s considerable mechanical upgrades mean that unlike other Mountune kitted cars it will not remain under a standard Ford warranty – something to consider if you plan on using a Focus M400 every day.

Available now through the Mountune website, the kit costs £2912 not including fitting, that is on top of the standard Focus RS' circa £32,000 price tag
