McLaren 570S Design Editions revealed

The Sports Series coupe, specced as McLaren’s designers intended

The McLaren 570S can now be bought exactly as McLaren’s designers would have it. The 570S Design Edition is available in five different colours, each exterior paint finish coming with its own combination of specification and trim.

The five combinations have been selected by McLaren’s own designers and each element – including the exhaust and caliper colours and the wheel style and finish – has been chosen to show off the 570S’s design in the best possible way. McLaren’s designers have added their own touches to the interior, too, selecting materials and colours for the seats, dash, steering wheel and sill covers that complement the exterior colours.

The five Design Edition colours are Vermillion Red, Onyx Black, Storm Grey, Ventura Orange and Silica White. So far McLaren has only revealed the Design Edition 1 package, which features the Vermillion Red paint with diamond-cut five-spoke wheels, red brake calipers and a dark grey exhaust. Inside, both the seats and the steering wheel are covered in red leather and black Alcantara, while the dash is trimmed in black and red leather with grey contrast stitching.

The Design Editions don’t just have the kudos of being the ultimate versions of the 570S, they make financial sense, too. Each of the exterior elements that make up the models can be specced individually on a regular 570S, and the interiors can be created through the ‘By McLaren’ personalisation service. However, each whole Design Edition package costs £8500 (in addition to the 570S’s basic price of £143,250), which is significantly less than selecting the options independently. The Design Edition packages still allow buyers a certain amount of personalisation, too, as equipment and carbonfibre options can be chosen.

The McLaren 570S Design Editions are available to order now and the first customers will receive their cars in 2017.
