Last ever third generation Renaultsport Mégane now on sale

Production run for an evo favourite comes to an end

The third generation Renaultsport Mégane has remained an evo favourite throughout its lengthy lifespan and now, after years in production, the last car has rolled off the line in Palencia, Spain.

The last ever Renault Sport is a right-hand-drive 275 Cup-S painted in Liquid Yellow. The Cup-S gets the track-ready Cup chassis as standard, with this particular car also benefitting from optional adjustable Öhlins Road&Track suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and 19-inch Speedline Alloy Wheels.

While it might seem down on power compared to the current crop of super hatches, it's important to remember that the 271bhp 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the Cup-S did grant the ultra-hardcore Trophy-R the front-wheel drive Nürburgring lap record in 2014 (now held by the VW Golf Clubsport S).

The car itself is on sale in Arnold Clark Renault in Dundee priced in at £31,930. Over 30,000 Renaultsport Méganes have been built over the years, starting out in the UK in 2009 as the Renaultsport 250, before a power-hike in 2012 to 265bhp and finally to 271bhp in 2015.

It's unclear exactly as to what the new Renaultsport Mégane will involve, early indications suggest the rear-wheel steering seen in the new Mégane GT and potentially a dual-clutch gearbox.
