Who says four-cylinder engines don't sound good

Everyone loves a BMW E30 M3 and when we saw this compilation of Group A E30s going sideways it seemed too good not to share. The quality isn’t the best and first three minutes are perhaps the most entertaining, but the sound of that S14 four-cylinder engine never gets old.

The thing about Group A cars is that to get the best out of them you generally had to over drive them, which is why they looked spectacular. Take them by the scruff of the neck and they do their best work. 

There are numerous recognisable liveries in there, but the most famous is probably the red and white Bastos car (Bastos is a French cigarette company). Most people will probably know this from the simply breathtaking video of Patrick Snijers driving in the 1988 Manx rally. Commentator Steve Ryder famously described it as a display of ‘forceful driving’ which seems like an understatement at times.
