Royal College of Art Vehicle Design to go on show

London’s 2015 RCA Show presents future car design to the public

London’s Royal College of Art MA Vehicle Design students will present their work to the public when the 2015 RCA Show opens its doors on the 25 June. Car concepts created by some of industry’s future talents will be on display until the 5 July, alongside works from other contemporary art and design courses.

The course, which RCA says develops students’ ‘awareness of the range of issues that affect mobility,’ runs a blog featuring the MA’s latest work. Vehicle Design Lab displays over 100 illustrations and renders from the students, mixing 3D concepts with detailed sketches. Many of these illustrations will be presented at the 2015 show.

Evidence that these designs could one day influence the automotive industry comes from the course’s long list of influential alumni. Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s design director and the man responsible for creating the Lagonda Taraf and One-77, is a graduate of the course, as is Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design director and lead voice in the design of the F-type and XE.

evo is proud to have worked with RCA’s MA Vehicle Design course on multiple occasions, most recently asking its students to design the Nissan GT-R of 2030. Tom Henwood, the winner of our 2014 competition – where students were asked to design the evo Car of the Future – has even landed himself an internship at Land Rover.

To view the latest batch of Vehicle Design students’ work in the flesh, you can visit the Royal College of Art London between the 25 June and 5 July (it’s closed for the 3 July) between 12-6pm. The exhibitions are free, and some of the work will be up for sale or commission.
