Akrapovič unveils exhaust system you can control with your phone

New aftermarket Sound Kit gives remote control of exhaust

Slovenian exhaust manufacturer Akrapovič has released details of its new Sound Kit exhaust system. Controlled via a remote or smartphone app, the new system can switch exhaust tone between two settings.

In cars, the first will project a ‘regular’ or ‘sporty’ tone, created by opening and closing pipework in the exhaust. Motorcycles are also set to receive their own version of this system, projecting a ‘regular’ or ‘rich’ sound.

Akrapovič is renowned for producing exhaust systems for a wide variety of cars, which range from Renaultsport’s Menage Trophy to Lamborghini’s Aventador. This technology is expected to be made available for a large range of existing Akrapovič kit.

The new product comes with a specially designed control app for either iOS or Android devices, using Bluetooth 4.0 technology.

Alternatively, drivers can use a supplied wireless controller, which can either be mounted on the dash or even attached to a set of keys.

There’s no word as to how much the system will cost as of yet, but it will first become available for the Lamborghini Aventador titanium Slip-On Line exhaust system.
